(BLACK PANTHERS.) Douglas, Emory; artist. Untitled poster of a Black Panther paperboy.

(BLACK PANTHERS.) Douglas, Emory; artist. Untitled poster of a Black Panther paperboy. Poster, 14 x 16 3/4 inches, in orange, blue and black; minimal wear. San Francisco, CA: [Black Panther Party], 1969

  • Notes: Reminiscent of the old-fashioned "newsies," this boy peddles an issue of the Black Community News Service proclaiming "All Power to the People." Unlike the old-fashioned newsboys, he carries a rifle on his back. A newspaper centerfold of this image with different coloring appears in The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas, pages 8-9.
