Amsterdam, 1640 or later E700-1000 Thesecond state (indicated by the tail on the cherub) of this important depiction of the American coastline largely derivative of Hondius's map of 1606 but with significant improvements to the mapping of the Outer Banks region. Produced for Blaeu's Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, theplate with the signature I was used from 1640 to 1655.
