Booksellers ticket of James Briggs on front pastedown. London, 1807 E500/750 WITH A FORE-EDGE PAINTING of two armored knights riding along the edge of a wood towards a castle; charming, if somewhat faded, and painted backwards on the fore edge. The romance of Partenopex made its first appearance in the Bibliotheque des Romans under the title Partenuple de Blois, translated from a story in Spanish prose.
