Each sheet laid into acetate folders in a ring binder. A copy of the First Limited Edition of 375 num-bered copies Signed byWescott is included in the folder. 8vo, red cloth, joints worn. ( Paris, 1929) E1,500/2,500 MANUSCRIPT OF WESCOTT'S SIGNIFICANT SEMI- AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL NOVEL OF LIFE IN THE MIDWEST written during his expatriate years in Paris. With over sixty holograph corrections to the manuscript by Wescott, mostly phrasing and word changes. The title-page states his business address in the upper right corner (c/o Guraranty Trust Co., 4 Place de la Concorde, Paris). The Babe's Bed takes place in Wisconsin and is his last work of fiction to be set in America. The provenance can be traced to the estate of Hope Weil, a lifelong friend of Wescott's and a book -binder, teacher, and book collector who lived in New York.
