BRUCE WEBER (1946- ) Jeff Aquilon.

BRUCE WEBER (1946- )
Jeff Aquilon. Silver print, the image measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm.) square, the sheet 14x11 inches (35.5x27.9 cm.), with Weber's copyright stamp and his credit, the sitter's name, and date in pencil on verso. 1979

  • Condition: Weber's portrait of Jeff Aquilon is overall in very good condition. The print is contrasty, with a rich tonal variety of greys.

Under close examination, the image area evidences a few inconsistencies, which are not visible under normal viewing condition at all, but only under strong raking light. These include two tiny specs of residue: one in the lower right quadrant (in the background below the hand) as visible on our online catalogue, and one in the shirt, completely obscured by the graphic qualities of the motif. Also, four small circular impressions made on the verso which can be seen on the surface of the print located on the shirt. Otherwise, the print is clean and neat.

The wide white margins are in overall clean as well as the verso. The right margin evidences two vertical creases in its upper corner and there is a cluster of tiny faint creases in the extreme lower left corner. None of them enter the image area and these little imperfections can be easily obscured by an overmat.
