In 1986–87, Following the centennial of the Brooklyn Bridge, a major reconstruction was undertaken. Dogançay was permitted to accompany the bridge workers while they worked (and climbed!) and created a magnificent suite of photographs of the workers, the bridge, and the surreal protective netting. Dogançay published a book of this work, titled Bridge of Dreams, with an introduction by Philip Lopate, in 1999. This image was featured on the cover.
