  • Notes: This bank was founded by Jesse Binga (1865-1950) in 1908 as the first Black-owned bank in Chicago. He secured a state charter in 1921. This prospectus includes a history of the bank, a biography of Binga, illustrated biographies of the bank's officers and cashier, and a financial statement. Among the directors were Chicago Defender publisher Robert Sengstacke Abbott and future Congressman Oscar de Priest.

    The bank failed early in the Great Depression. No material relating to this bank has been traced in OCLC or at auction.
