(BUSINESS.) PICKENS, T. BOONE. Group of four Typed Letters Signed, "Boone" or "Boone Pickens," to Gary Kraidman,

TEXAS OIL MAN FROM OK WHO STROVE FOR US INDEPENDENCE FROM OPEC (BUSINESS.) PICKENS, T. BOONE. Group of four Typed Letters Signed, "Boone" or "Boone Pickens," to Gary Kraidman, describing his plan to capitalize on domestic natural gas reserves for use by vehicles. Each ½ or 1 page, 4to, personal stationery; horizontal folds. Dallas, 2009-15

23 July 2012: ". . . I'm fighting my own petrothriller right now with the Pickens Plan. Since I launched the Plan in July 2008 . . . . I've been struck many times by the enthusiasm . . . of people I've met, and how firmly they believe that we must do something to quell our dependence on OPEC oil. . . .
". . . It's just fiscally irresponsible to spend $1.4 billion a day on foreign oil when we have such an abundant supply of domestic energy resources. Quickly developing our . . . natural gas resources as a principal transportation fuel will help to reduce our dependence on OPEC oil by up to 60 percent in just a few years. . . .
". . . If I had this to do all over again, I'd bypass Congress and focus my efforts on corporate, local and state entities, as we are making great progress in those areas."
With--T. Boone Pickens. Typed Letter, unsigned, to Gary Kraidman, declining his invitation to pursue a film project and remarking that his plan is seeing progress: ". . . [T]he only way America can reclaim control of its foreign policy is to take advantage of . . . its own energy resources. The best way to make a big difference quickly is to transition heavy-duty trucks from diesel to natural gas. That is beginning to happen. . . . We'd be much better off if Washington would take a cue from the real leadership we've witnessed at the corporate, local, and state levels. . . ." 1 page, 4to. Dallas, 23 June 2015.
