Stedman a bell-maker from East Hampton, Connecticut, as a souvenirs of the first meeting of the National Negro Business League, held in Boston, on August 23rd and 24th of 1900. Stedman was an African American businessman who attended the meeting, and offered copies of the bell 'sent to anywhere in the U.S.A. for sixty cents,' for members of the League.  The bell and Mr. Stedman are both illustrated and discussed on pages 200-203 of 'The Proceedings of the National Negro Business League' (Boston, 1901).
