Cabaret at the Kit Kat Klub: featuring Natasha Richardson and Alan Cumming.
Lithograph, 19x25 inches oblong. Artist's proof, signed by Hirschfeld and annotated "AP II/XXV" in pencil, lower margin. 1998.
"They took the theater and made it into a cafe, like the Berlin one in the story. You are there, in the drama. I admit this threw me, graphically, for a while. At the last minute, I set those tables in the foreground with the lamps and the glasses to convey the feeling you got in the cafe theater. It was really a wonderful, decadent depiction of Germany during those times." HOL/274.
