- Notes: Dated 26 July 1945, the 13 point Potsdam Proclamation by the United States, Great Britain and China, called for the unconditional Japanese surrender without assurances for the continuation of Emperor's position. The Proclamation threatened "prompt and utter destruction" for noncompliance with the terms. The Proclamation was dismissed by the Japanese on 28 July and the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima the following week.
