Together, 11 issues of this beautifully-produced fine art magazine, with approximately 90 photogravures. Each illustrated with photogravure reproductions of photographs by edward steichen, alfred stieglitz, alvin langdon coburn, george h. seeley/span and anne brigman,/span among others. 4tos, original printed gray wrappers, untrimmed edges with the usual slight creasing and tears, overall clean with scattered darkening to edges or small areas of soiling; 6 plates lacking; internally overall bright and clean.

  • Notes: Stieglitz's Camera Work was the first publication to promote photography as a fine art form, and features many highlights from photographers associated with the Photo-Secession. This partial run includes Stieglitz's "Winter--Fifth Avenue," "Snapshot--From my Window, New York," and "Snapshot--In the New York Central Yards;" Steichen's "Moonlight: The Pond" and "The Little Round Mirror;" Alvin Langdon Coburn's "The Bridge--Sunlight;" and Anne Brigman's "Finis."


    Only six plates are missing: Herzog's "The Tale of Isolde," Stieglitz's "Horses" (No. 12), Steichen's "Cover Design" (No. 14), Keiley's "Spring" (No. 17), Steichen's "Pastoral--Moonlight" (No. 19), and Renwick's "Nude" (No. 20).

Shipping

Upon request, Swann will facilitate the shipping of purchases to out-of-town buyers at an additional charge for packing, shipping and insurance, but will not be responsible for any loss, damage or delay resulting from the packing, handling and shipping thereof. Unless specific instructions are received, Swann is the sole judge of the method to be used for shipment. Packing and shipping costs will be noted on the invoice mailed to successful bidders after the sale, and are based on the actual costs involved. Be advised that a full commercial invoice must accompany any purchase shipped outside the US.
