Drypoint printed in dark brown on heavy, cream wove paper, 1880. 268x217 mm; 10 1/2x8 5/8 inches, full margins. Second state (of 2). One of only several proofs made by the artist in this state, aside from the posthumous edition of 30. Signed and inscribed "Ep. d'essai no. 1" in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression of this extremely scarce print, with pentimenti of the woman in the foreground, between the 2 trees, removed after the first state, still showing. Delteil 32
