(CANADA.) Mercure Galant.

EARLY FRENCH REPORT OF THE BATTLE OF QUEBEC (CANADA.) Mercure Galant. 339, [6] pages. 16mo, contemporary calf gilt, small chip at head of backstrip, only minor wear. Paris, January 1691

  • Notes: Single issue of the popular French periodical. Includes what is believed to be the first full printed account in France of their victory in the October 1690 Battle of Quebec, pages 282-322. In this battle, the French successfully repulsed a siege by a group of Massachusetts troops, which proved to be the last major engagement of King William's War.
