CANADIAN PACIFIC / LAND OF EVANGELINE.

34 1/4x24 inches.
Condition B: repaired tears through margins affecting image.
Evangeline and Gabriel, ill-fated lovers separated in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem "Evangeline," are standing beside "Evangeline's well." Published in 1847, the poem tells of the British expulsion of the Acadians from Novia Scotia, and Evangeline's search for her lost love. The well was thought to contain buried Acadian treasure. Although never actually reunited in the story, here they visit the well together. Along with the poem, the well is still strongly associated with local history and pride. Not in Canadian Pacific.
