CANADIAN PATRIOTIC FUND. 1916.
40 1/2x27 1/4 inches. Howell, Hamilton.
Condition A-: unobtrusive vertical and horizontal folds; minor repaired tear in bottom margin.
An extraordinary World War I Native American document relating to the indigenous peoples of Canada. An Indian, in red, yellow and green, is presenting his monetary contribution to the war effort along with a letter explaining why he is donating money; against a green and yellow forest background. It is unclear whether the appeal was to other indigenous peoples to contribute, or to guilt the "white" population into contributing more.
