CANARY'S GRAVE or BOSCO'S EXCHANGE CABINET. Exceptional and early example of an effect pioneered by Bartolomeo BOSCO (1793-1863) wherein a live bird is revived in the double-chambered funerary urn. Painted in a faux wood pattern and finished in gilt. 4 1/2x8 1/4x4 1/2 inches (11.5x21x11.5 cm). France, circa 1840.
