  • Notes: This highly selective series of photographs is noteworthy for several reasons. First, the tonality of the photographs is exceptional, generally bright and rich. Second the album, which is arranged geographically, also features uncommon views of several Caribbean nations along with Dumeira (Eritrea), which was, apparently, a small island off the coast of northeast Africa. Finally, the photographs encompass a strong representation of different genres, including montages of ethnographic studies, lyrically rendered landscapes, and sun-baked street scenes.
