CARL ANDRE Stations of the Cross Town Bus.

CARL ANDRE
Stations of the Cross Town Bus.

Unique, appropriated offset lithograph on white wove paper, 1996. 205x135 mm; 8 1/8x5 1/4 inches. Signed, titled and dated "2006" in pencil, lower left. Acquired directly from the artist, New York, by the current owner.

In a postcard to the owner, Andre explains , "I fear that Stations was my attempt at a feeble joke. One's attempt at being funny more often fail than not. A true comic gift is exceedingly rare. Any ham can play tragedy but it takes a real genius to be a comedian. My favorite is W. C. Fields."
