"Do you like Beethoven?" Original 9-panel "Peanuts" Sunday comic strip featuring Schroeder, Lucy, and Frieda, published January 18, 1970, with United Feature Syndicate pastedown in third panel. Pen and ink over graphite on stiff paper. 425x610 mm; 16 3/4x24 inches. Signed "Schulz" in ninth panel, additionally inscribed in Shulz's hand in upper margin and signed with his nickname: "Bill-- Please save this one for me -- Sparky."

  • Notes: Provenance: Acquired by conductor Maurice Peress directly from Schulz for the Kansas City Philharmonic''s 1978 Beethoven Festival. It was featured in the festival''s accompanying visual exhibition at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum from April 28 - June 4, 1978.
