  • Notes: "There are so many var. of Broom Sedge that it is hard to tell without I had the name. All the upland types thrive wherever corn grows well. The smaller types like a dry, sandy, rocky soil. The big Blue stem a very rich soil. The swamp types a wet mucky soil."
    Carver (1864-1943) African American scientist known for his research on the peanut.
