Printed in Ptolemy type in double column in black and red, chapter headings in red beneath chapter numbers in black, two three-quarter page-borders and the 12-line smaller initial capitals or short words of a large stylized vine-leaf pattern (black outline on white ground) designed by Louise Powell and cut on wood by W. M. Quick and Geo. H. Ford. Hornby XXXVI ("These two volumes... were the first to be printed in my new Ptolemy type...").
