This poster is for a French version of a German B movie. A more commercial commission than his poster-portraits for performers, Chassaing has here concentrated on making the likeness of the two actors realistic. And although this poster is similar in style to many of the other movie posters of the 1930s, Chassaing has retained his artistic identity by adhering to his unusual color schemes and faces bisected by bolts of color.
