CHARLES MEERE (DATES UNKNOWN) MULLARD MASTER RADIO. Circa 1940. 39x29 inches.
CHARLES MEERE (DATES UNKNOWN) MULLARD MASTER RADIO. Circa 1940.
39 5/8x29 3/8 inches.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in margins, some affecting image.
Mullard was a pioneer company in the field of electronic components and radio valves. Their radios were used by Imperial Airways as depicted in this image, showing a Short S23 Empire Flying Boat. The implied message being that if the radio was good enough for the stringent operating requirements of Imperial's extensive flying boat routes, then the radio was, indeed, good "for the Empire's millions." The "Centaurus" went into service for Imperial Airways in 1936, was commandeered by the RAF at the outbreak of World War II and was shot down in 1942.
All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues and are posted below.
