Etching with drypoint on papier verdâtre, 1854. 155x335 mm; 6 1/8x13 1/4 inches, wide (full ?) margins. Sixth state (of 12), with the diagonal scratch in the sky upper center. The vice mark in the upper right corner of the plate still printing slightly. A brilliant impression of this scarce, early state with all the fine lines and etails printing clearly.
Schneiderman lists only 3 impressions of the sixth state in public collections and we find only another 3 impressions at auction during the past 20 years. Schneiderman 40.
