CHARLES PAINE (1895-1967) HAMPTON COURT. 1921.
30x20 inches, 76x50 cm. The Baynard Press, London.
Condition A / A-: restored pin-holes in corners; minor abrasions in margins.
Paine's artistic career began as an apprentice working with stained glass. The majority of the posters he designed in 1921 and 1922 reflect this discipline, as they employ simple, bold images and planes of flat color. All of his posters were marked by a sense of progressive and modernist design.
