(CHILDREN'S BOOKS.) Tillotson, John. The Youth's History of America.

(CHILDREN'S BOOKS.) Tillotson, John. The Youth's History of America. Frontispiece plate. [iii]-viii, 248 pages. 16mo, publisher's cloth, minor wear; minor foxing. London: Thomas Holmes, circa 1850

  • Notes: An engagingly written little English history for the young adult market, concluding with the 1849 Gold Rush and the Mexican War, plus a 19-page appendix on American slavery. This work seems to have fallen into the void, although the author wrote several other books including the later and larger "Golden History of America." No copies known at auction, not found in any bibliography, no copies listed in WorldCat, though the British Union Catalogue does list one other surviving copy at the University of Aberdeen.
