With approximately 140 photographs, comprising 74 of China, 28 of the Philippines, and 60 candid scenes of family and military life. Includes scarce studies of Negrotos, including natives preparing for a feast of victory for a successful head hunting, chiefs and tribesmen, Ilocano woman smoking a huge cigar, Igorot burial, and more. Silver prints, the images measuring 3 1/4x4 1/4 to 5 1/4x7 3/4 inches (8.3x10.8 to 13.3x19.7 cm.), mounted recto/verso, several with typerwitten and/or handwritten captions on mount recto or identifying information in the negative. Oblong 4to, stiff boards, disbound. 1920s-30s

  • Notes: The album includes rare ethnographic studies, many real photo postcards, of Igorot or Cordillerans (the collective name of several Austronesian ethnic groups in the Philippines), who inhabited the mountains of Luzon.

    Archive containing ephemeral family and military materials reflecting Colonel Greiner's different American and Asian posts. With a rare Governor-General 1917 passport issued to Miss Stearns Greiner; a 1945 award to Col. Edwin Greiner, U.S. Army, as Chief of Staff of the 16th Armored Division 1945 Liberation of Bohemia, Czechoslovakia during World War II; typed and handwritten letters; and assorted photographs.
