Boston: Cupples, (1892) E250/350 FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED to Elizabeth Hyde Botume in the year of publication. Botume wrote First Days Among the Contrabands (Boston, 1893), a narrative of her experiences as a teacher for the Freedman's Bureau beginning in 1864 in Beaufort, South Carolina.
