One in a series of scenes of London's pageantry by Clark, who was a military and historical painter. Here the changing of the guards outside St. James's Palace is impressively rendered with their brass instruments gleaming in the sun. His popular images were often re-issued by British Railways in the 1950s. Railway p. 121.
