St. Germain's Dialoges examines the relationship between English common law and individual ethical conscience. As the earliest published appraisal of the role of equity in English law, it sets future contemplations of the notion into motion. The English translation of the Latin original was likely done by St. Germain himself and was obviously popular. Treveris, Wyer, Bertelet and Redman all printed undated editions in the 1530s, when the second dialogue was appended, along with "New Addicions." The book persisted as a mainstay of law study into the 19th century.
