Notes: The autobiography of Will Purvis, a member of the "White Caps" (a Klan spin-off), who was accused of a murder prompted by the flogging of a Negro farm hand. Purvis was lynched and survived when the noose unraveled. He was sent to a work farm, and exonerated 20 years later when another White Cap confessed.
