  • Notes: This issue of "The Student Voice" issued by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee features a cover story on SNCC desegregation actions titled "Nashville Group Sustains Protests," illustrated with a photograph of SNCC''s young chairman John Lewis being carried off by the Nashville police. The article also notes that Lewis was "also injured by police in recent demonstrations here when he was arrested for his 32nd time."

    The newspaper was signed for the consignor by Congressman Lewis at a Martin Luther King commemoration in Kenosha, WI on 26 January 2013. A copy of the event program is included with the lot, as well as a color copy of another dated Lewis inscription done at the same event.
