  • Notes: 26 of these photographs are from the riots which rocked Harlem in July of 1964, sparked by the shooting of 15-year-old James Powell by a policeman. 8 more are from other New York protests and events from 1964 through 1968, most notably a shot of Malcolm X''s casket leaving the church in 1965.
