Album containing 73 cartes-de-visite and tintypes, with approximately 45 depicting Union military figures from Kentucky. More than 25 contain the imprint of photographer W. M. Bryan, Russellyville, Kentucky; 6 with Brady/Anthony, 2 with Webster's Gallery and one with J. Celroad, Louisville imprints. With 70 cdv's and 3 tintypes; the cdv's with handwritten identifications (many misattributed) below the window mount. Oblong 4to, morocco; contents detached; with one brass clasp (lacks second); all edges gilt. Circa 1863

  • Notes: In addition to a host of Kentucky-based military figures, Union Generals and other notables are featured, among them William Nelson, Daniel Sickler, Don Carlos Buell, Jefferson Columbus Davis as well as Anderson, Meade, Sherman, Grant, and Thomas.
  • Condition: Please note figures in the album are frequently misidentified. Attributions are transcribed in the sequence in which they appear.

    Pictures credited to Bryan: Maxwell, Farley, Buckly, Vance, Brewster(?), Baley, Bennett, Grubs, Hackett, Woodworth, Shackleft(?), Taylor , Stanley, West, Smethers, Overstreet, Hendricks, Vessels, Page, Bedfaren, Morgan, Ernest, Haland, Fisher, Brown, Elder, Borab, Tamer, and Davis.

    The Brady/Anthony portraits include Nelson, Sickels, McCorck(?), Grant, Burnside [Sherman], and Mead. The Webster picture is identified as Overstreet.
