  • Notes: The official report on the Confederate investigation into the 1862 fall of New Orleans to Admiral Farragut and General Butler, which cleared the way for the later surrender of Baton Rouge, Natchez, and Vicksburg in 1863. Here, General Mansfield Lovell was formally exonerated for his role in the defeat, although his reputation never recovered. Parrish & Willingham 2355.
