- Notes: Samuel Hollingsworth Stout (1822-1903) was the head surgeon for the Confederacy''s Army of the Tennessee, including Georgia. These 10 letters relate to his administration of Georgia military hospitals. One 1864 letter from Missouri H. Stokes attempts to track the location of her wounded brother; another from assistant surgeon Frank Dennis reports on the successful move of 117 soldiers to Atlanta; other letters report on the movements of hospital personnel.
