- Notes: The publisher's preface, dated 1 December 1863, seems to make light of the war, writing "In former times the country was overrun with an endless number of competition School Books in every line of instruction. The present condition of the country has delivered us from this evil." A nice example of the Confederate use of wallpaper due to the paper shortage. P&W 7685; Crandall 4039.
