  • Notes: "Agreeably to the laws of the United States of America, the bearer, London Henry, once claimed as a Slave, is declared forever free. Wives, Mothers, and Children, of all those declared free, are also forever free."
    Hunter (1802-1886) served in the Mexican War, rose to major-general during the Civil War, and became president of the military commission which tried Lincoln's assassins.
