  • Notes: Ruggles (1810-97) Confederate Brigadier General, fought with distinction at Corinth, Shiloh and the Battle of Baton Rouge, in command at Port Hudson, commanded the first military district in Mississippi, fought numerous battles in the weeks preceding the fall of Vicksburg.
