(CIVIL WAR.) The Slain at Baltimore!

Small broadside or handbill of the lyrics to a Union patriotic song, printed in two columns within a floral border. Approximately 9x6 inches; a bit toned, minor tape repairs. Philadelphia: A. W. Auner, circa 1861

  • Notes: The song refers to the violence in Baltimore between the Union troops and Confederate sympathizers in the Spring of 1861, beginning "There's sorrow and there's weeping by mountain vale and shore, / For Freedom's new slain martyrs, - the Dead at Baltimore! / There's a swelling cry for vengeance on those counterfeits of men / Who haunt that hold of pirates, - that foul assasin's den."
