(CIVIL WAR)

Extraordinary whole-plate Pennellograph tintype of a soldier with a pistol and musket; sealed and framed. Early 1860s

  • Notes: The Pennellograph process is a rare hand-coloring technique that was applied to tintypes. The surface of the image was stenciled and layered with tinted carbons. Each Pennellograph was sealed due the fragile nature of the image surface.
