  • Notes: 29 October 1987, holograph postscript: "Rama [Rendezvous with Rama (1973)] has been optioned several times to the movies. I don't know its current status. I'm starting on Rama II next year!"
    15 June 1989: ". . . [B]y a strange coincidence, Gentry Lee is here this very moment, working on Rama III and IV (Rama II will be out this December). . . .
    "I'm sure you will appreciate that the movie deal being discussed on Rama will be a mega-buck affair, and only a major studio and a very experienced screen-writer could handle it. So I'm afraid we cannot offer you any encouragement, at least on this project. . . ."
    11 June 1991, holograph postscript: "Good luck with the eclipse! I've seen 3--from land, sea, & air! (Wish I could add space). . . ."
