His plan was endorsed by the Massachusetts legislature in 25 January 1744/45, and was underway by April. This letter was written while gathering support from the New Hampshire militia: "By Governour Wentworth's order I am now at this place with an expresse to all officers in order to for'd ye business of ye expedition against Cape Britton & desire ye favor of you to come up to Mr. Lad's publique house as soon as may be." Provenance: sold by Joseph Rubinfine to the consignor, November 1982.
