Folio, publisher's 1/2 morocco, needs rebinding; both vignette titles quite foxed, maps generally bright and clean on image, maps in second volume (world) with dampstaining along fore-edges, generally restricted to margins but just entering the image on several of the initial maps. New York, 1855-56
- Notes: first edition. Published over 2 years which has caused the First Edition to be offered occasionally as a mixed set. The Second Edition appeared in 1856, with both volumes carrying an 1856 publication date on the title-page.
