  • Notes: The Warrenton Woolen Mill on the Naugatuck River was founded in 1844 and soon became a central part of Torrington's industrial scene. Like many of the old mill buildings in New England, it has since been converted into a condominium complex.

    James Harvey Rollin Caughey (1851-1925) was a prolific illustrator of atlases and county histories in the late 19th century. See Richard Candee and Michael Conzen, "Rollin Caughey, Sketch Artist of Post-Civil War America," in Imprint 47:1 (Spring 2022).

    With--4 early mounted albumen photographs of the mill, 6 x 8 inches, worn; a worn postcard of the mill; plus 29 modern photographs documenting the adaptive re-use project circa 1989.
