CORELLI, MARIE. Two Autograph Letters Signed.

CORELLI, MARIE. Two Autograph Letters Signed. The first, to "Dear Mrs. Austruthes[?]," asking that she inform her if she should see [a review?] in a newspaper, stating that the "little 'hacks' of the London press would rather be 'hung, drawn and quartered' than admit any popularity for me in the Army!", sending greetings to Sir Edward Ward, and noting that she does not subscribe to any press-cutting agencies: "'mosquitoes,' as Lord Tennyson called them!" The second, to an unnamed recipient ("Dear Sir"), requesting a corrected version of a printed extract due to too many errors, and declining to attend meetings due to the Shakespeare Festival. Together 7 pages, 8vo, personal stationery, each written on a single folded sheet. Stratford-upon-Avon, 16 January 1917; 8 March 1907
