A new selection of design samples, using mulberry[-block] printing (Kajikiyin shinsen moyo hinagata, zen). 24 magnificent hand-finished wood block printed scenes on silk, each with a number and brief description for custom orders of kimono fabrics. Oblong folio, original patterned cloth, worn at edges; internally clean. Japan, circa 1890

  • Notes: It has also been suggested that the designs were to be used to decorate elegant sliding doors or fusuma in fine Japanese homes.
