The letters, thanking for services, discussing a recommendation, mentioning the quality of the light in Athens, sending New Years greetings. Each 1/2 page, 4to; folds. The note: ". . . If we don't telephone it'll mean we're still fighting ultrachaos caused by infra quote-painters-unquote. Et vive la vie!" 1/2 page, 12mo; faint scattered soiling. Vp, 1951-58

  • Notes: 28 September 1951: "[T]hank you most very kindly for troubling to translate our Greek friend(& savior)''s epistle. Another letter from him has just arrived; but I shall ask a certain cordial florist . . . to decipher that one, when all leaves fall & ourselves come shivering unhome. . . ."
    9 August 1952: "I heartily agree with you about Athenian light. In fact, seem to recall trying to communicate some least notion of its brilliance when Marion & self returned therefrom. . . ."
    27 December 1958, ALS: ". . . [D]elighted to learn that you & your work are thriving. . . ."
    With
    -- 6 Autograph Letters or Notes Signed by his wife, Marion Morehouse Cummings, to Lekakis, requesting a translation of the letter from a Greek who had helped her after she injured herself in a fall, discussing the death of Eva Palmer-Sikelianos, arranging for the translation of a preface, and other topics, mostly personal. Together 8 pages, 4to or smaller; generally good condition. Most with the original envelope. Vp, 1951-63.
