Black Man and White Ladyship. An Anniversary. 11 pages. 8vo, printed red wrappers. (Toulon), 1931 One of the few "Privately Printed Not For Sale" copies of Cunard's open letter to her mother, ("Her Ladyship") exposing the maliciousness engendered in England by her inter-racial relationship with black musician Henry Crowder whom she had met in Venice in 1927. The second part of the piece is titled "Black Man" and deals briefly with slavery and the current position of blacks in society. Cunard is remembered for her avant-garde publishing house, Hours Press, which brought forth The Negro Anthology and Henry Music.
